Fort Erie SPCA working to help animals amid financial pressure.

The past two years have been trying times for the Fort Erie SPCA, ranging from unsubstantiated allegations of animal cruelty to the agency no longer handling animal control duties for the town.

But manager Wendy Trombley said one message needs to be heard loud and clear.

“We’re still here,” she said.

As of June 1st, 2022 Fort Erie Residents will be required to contact Lincoln County Humane Society 905-682-0767 for all Animal Control Bylaw issues, Licencing and Humane Services.

The Fort Erie SPCA is currently in the process of redefining our role as your local SPCA. We are evaluating the needs within the community and the services to which we will continue to provide.

Our doors will remain open and we will still be accepting pets for adoption, welcoming volunteers and coop students.

The Management and staff at the Fort Erie SPCA will be available to answer all questions and concerns you may have.

Our goal is to prevent cruelty and to encourage consideration for animals by encouraging and assisting in the enforcement of all laws which are now, and may hereafter, be enacted for the protection of animals; by securing by lawful means the prosecution of all persons violating such laws; and by means of literature, addresses and other forms of publicity to create and sustain interest in animal welfare.

We provide animal rescue and control as a means of protecting all animals and as a necessary service to our community.


Fort Erie SPCA New Dog Parkette

The Fort Erie SPCA officially opened their new Parkette at the shelter on Jarvis Street. Located at the rear of the property, it includes a large roaming area and swimmable pond.
